Časopis Ibero-Americana Pragensia je odborný recenzovaný časopis, původně ročenka, jež od roku 2017 vychází dvakrát ročně. Časopis je zaměřený na dějiny a kulturu Latinské Ameriky, stejně jako na vztahy mezi západním světem a Latinskou Amerikou. Publikuje odborné studie, články, prameny a zprávy o konferencích či recenze jak knižní, tak kulturních událostí. Všechny publikované texty jsou autorské. Odborné články a krátké studie podléhají recenznímu řízení. Důraz je kladen na primární výzkum. Časopis publikuje texty různorodého metodologického i tematického zaměření (historie, literární věda, lingvistika, etnologie, politologie, dějiny umění, translatologie, atd.), stejně jako prameny vztahující se k iberoamerikanistické problematice. Je určen primárně odborné veřejnosti. Texty jsou publikovány ve španělštině, angličtině a portugalštině. Cílem časopisu je prohlubovat povědomí o iberoamerikanistice jako oboru, profilovat jej a sloužit jako oborová komunikační platforma pro polemiky a diskuze, zároveň zvyšovat povědomost o dění v Latinské Americe a mezinárodních vztazích s tímto regionem a přispívat tak k hlubšímu porozumění této oblasti, její historii a kultuře.
Ročenka Ibero-Americana Pragensia byla založena v roce 1967 jako první španělsky vycházející periodikum ve střední a východní Evropě. Ročenka získala postupně značnou prestiž a od počátku 90. let 20. století je pravidelně zmiňována jedním z nejuznávanějších bibliografických časopisů Revista Interamericana de Bibliografía, jejž vydává Organizace amerických států. Od roku 2008 je ročenka registrována Ministerstvem kultury České republiky jako odborný titul. Ročenka vycházela jako recenzovaný titul. V roce 2017 začal časopis vycházet dvakrát ročně a odborné studie prochází oboustranně anonymním recenzním řízením. Ředitelem časopisu je prof. PhDr. Josef Opatrný, CSc., šéfredaktorkou PhDr. Simona Binková, CSc., a výkonnou redaktorkou je Mgr. Monika Brenišínová, Ph.D. Časopis vede výkonný redaktor spolu s redakční radou složenou s tuzemských odborníků z předních českých univerzit, jež slouží jako širší poradní orgán. Na odbornou úroveň časopisu dohlíží dále odborná rada, již tvoří odborníci z předních zahraničních univerzit.
Odborné články jsou publikovány po absolvování recenzního řízení a přijetí redakční radou. Odbornými recenzenty jsou odborníci z tuzemských i zahraničních univerzit. Abstract
The nineteenth century interest in the exotic spread along new scientific fields, as an epistemological turn, a radical change in people’s interpretation of the spatiotemporal order of things. This article outlines some changes in perceptions of ancient writings preserved in archives in Europe and America, the spoken languages and the ruined monuments buried under the jungle in Mexico and Central America, under the early interpretations focused on mythology.
