Abstract
The development of the standard is in all likelihood the most significant, representative stream in the history of the national language. In spite of the simplified views of synthetic processing, this is, however, not a single- stream process, not is it a scientifically supported development trajectory. In addition to the indices of the perhaps uncompleted or unrealized development trajectories of Standard Czech, which occasionally emerge from language documents, there emerges the question of the transformation or deformation of its standard pattern into various geographical or societally conditioned variants. In Silesia, an area located both on the periphery and outside of the Czech language territory, particular conditions for the development of standard Czech were formed, either based on a very specific dialect, or even without a dialectal basis that would be a part of the Czech national language. Characteristic for the regional development of Czech here was also the competition with other means of communication For this reason, it is necessary to respect the double categorization in the linguistic-historical description: on the one hand as a part of the history of the national language (of national languages), on the other hand as a part of the development of the regional multilingual communication system.
