[Czech Education Policy and International Comparative Studies of Student Achievement]

abstract

In last fifteen years the Czech Republic participated in many international comparative studies of student achievement. These studies provided comparisons of knowledge and skills of Czech students with knowledge and skills of their peers in other countries. Surveys focused on various educational areas and on various age cohorts and brought valuable information about Czech education system. The aim of this paper is to provide overview of international comparative studies on student achievement implemented in the Czech Republic and related national surveys, to present main findings and to discuss their impact on Czech educational policy.
