Abstract
Classic sociological theory cmphasized the concept of society above any other possible notions ol collective life (Durkheim). Contemporary sociál science reflects the constraints of such an approach toward sociál reality, espccially with respect to the inability of existing thcories to explain reál processes in the development of modern States (Mann, Giddens). Contemporary sociological theory does address this topic, the elaboration of which allows a synthesis of seemingly diversive conclusions reached by various sociál sciences. The issue of the national statě is not only a theoretical problem, as we find it in every-day reality. It is desirable that sociologists offer adequate answers to the questions concerning. for example. Nationalism, reproduction of power structures. cultural pluralism, new forms of ideology, etc. Modern states are institutionalized frames in which social life is realized. which means that deseription. analysis, and theo retical explanation of their dynamics can resolve more questions than traditional sociological theory and analysis had been writting or able to.
