Časopis AUC Historia Universitatis Carolinae Pragensis s podtitulem „Příspěvky k dějinám Univerzity Karlovy“ je periodikum věnované nejen historii pražské univerzity, ale i dějinám vzdělanosti a studentského hnutí v českých zemích. Časopis vycházející od roku 1960 v rámci univerzitní řady Acta Universitatis Carolinae přináší také materiálové studie uveřejňující původní historické prameny (všechny stati jsou opatřeny cizojazyčnými, zpravidla německými a anglickými souhrny). Časopis otiskuje pravidelně recenze a anotace prací k dějinám vzdělanosti a kroniku badatelské činnosti.

Abstract
Behind the Cloister Walls? On the Concept of Seclusion in Female Congregations of the 19th Century The author presents three congregations of school sisters. These communities gradually formed in the 19th century, and eventually found their place also in the Czech Lands. The aim of the article is to follow the development of the notion of seclusion in the statues and in practice, and to analyse trends in the revival of monastic life under new conditions and in an environment of changing social needs. Nuns’ educational work demanded that their ‘seclusion from the world’ should take a more internalised, spiritual character, different from the external notion of living ‘behind the wall’.
