abstract
This article comments on instructional leadership at basic schools from the viewpoint of headteachers. The opening part of the text brie!y outlines pedagogical leadership and its potential connotations for school operation. In the subsequent, more extensive part, the results of a qualitative empirical research about headteachers are described. The article especially inquires into leadership strategies used by headteachers in the educational process and how these strategies can a"ect the work and the environment of the school.
