Abstract
The edition of the Rights and Privileges of Kamenice nad Lipou includes not only the town’s codex diplomaticus but also the edition of the town’s rights from 1462–1476 and several other documents. It thus presents these documents in the comprehensive context of the original manuscript of the town’s law code. The publication of the complete set of the town privileges allows the individual documents to be viewed in the broader context of their genesis. While the privileges issued before 1615 expanded and only exceptionally corrected the rights of the town and the burgesses, in the charters issued between 1638 and 1698 there was a strong element of revision related to the interests of the upper class, the demands of the burgesses and the role of the sovereign power. Another aspect is the consideration of the possibilities of using the publication character of the edition in the context of regional history.
