abstract

The purpose of this article is to outline conditions necessary for the guaranteeing of sustainable teacher education. Five theses are developed in the text related to the esteem in which a teacher’s work is held, selection of student teachers, teaching competencies as aims and goals of teacher education programmes, and basic and conceptual levels in teacher education. Researchbased teacher education guarantees the integration of the basic level with the conceptual level through twofold practising. The outcome is a reflective teacher with pedagogical thinking who is able to develop as a practising teacher in changing circumstances.
