abstract

This study reviews various research approaches based on video data analysis, mainly those using video data analysis in research of teaching and learning in different basic school subjects. Origins of such research approaches are investigated and a review of international research projects (TIMSS, LPS, IPN, DESI and other) in which representative samples of video data were analysed is presented. On the basis of reflection of various methodological discussions the theoretical framework is presented of the CPV video studies, which are being realised by the Educational Research Centre of the Masaryk University’s Faculty of Education. General aims and the methodology of CPV video studies (of Physics, Geography, English and Physical Education) are presented as well as a summary of realised and intended analyses.
