abstract
The survey study informs about the current approaches to the problem of content transformation (or the mediation of subject-matter to pupils). In the Czech Republic, the process is usually named didactic transformation at present. In the German- speaking countries we can meet with terms like didactic simplification, elementarisation or didactic reduction, or most recently, didactic reconstruction. The author attempts to outline the past development of the individual conceptions, as well as their comparison, which is difficult due to the confused terminology. From all his findings the author concludes with an ideally typical model of subject-matter didactic mediation. It is principally based on the conception of didactic reconstruction which can be classified as a new approach to subject-matter didactic mediation, selecting the particular subject matters not only with respect to the needs and possibilities of the pupils but also to the requirements defined in the curricular documents, and to other factors influencing the process of education.
