Marginalia Historica is a peer-reviewed academic journal focused on the history of education, including dissemination of knowledge in general and institutional forms of education and schools in particular. It presents hitherto unpublished scholarly studies, book reviews, and event reports from the Czech lands within a Central European context. The journal was published between 1996 and 2004 by the Department of History and History Didactics of the Faculty of Education at Charles University first as an irregular anthology, with eight issues in total; following 2010, publication was resumed in a regular semi-annual period both in print and online.

abstract
The study presents and includes a sample test to be used to examine how pupils conceive and reflect on history, including an answer sheet sample and a methodological sheet. Sourcewise, the test is based on recorded proceedings of the 1927 debate in the Czechoslovak parliament on the bill on ‘nomadic Gypsiesʼ; this topic was chosen as it is sufficiently documented by primary evidence and yet handily unfamiliar to the learners. Several subsequent versions of the test and evaluation criteria were made also to reflect the results of two rounds of pilot testing. The authors have used methodology by historians Pavel Baloun and Jaromír Mrňka for the history part and Bloom’s revised taxonomy of educational goals. Their primary methodological inspiration lies in Peter Seixas et al., whose ’One-hour Historical Thinking Test’ was taken into account as well as their overall framing concept of ‘historical thinking’ (as adopted by the didactical project Dějepis+). The test as a whole, as it presented below, is to serve history teaching methodologists as well as teachers for their classrom use.
