Abstract
Case of sudden death of active athlete, in this case top class freeride mountain biker J. N. aged 29 years was ascribed. Biker collapsed from bar chair in after midnight time. Subsequent resuscitation was not succesful. Microscopic finding in the myocardium was important for death cause assessment – focal myofibrosis and perivascular fibrosis of small intramyocardial arteries. Direct cause of death in J. N. was sudden cardiac arrhythmia – ventricular fibrilation. Such a lethal event could meet the subject anytimes sooner during his athletic activity. The competitor of that performance level should undertake preparticipation screening check-up in his own interest, preferentially at sports medical specialist.
