AUC Theologica is a double-blind peer-reviewed journal, which follows all ethical rules necessary for publishing original articles of a high standard in the field of theology. The communication between authors, editors, and reviewers is transparent and professional. It complies with the COPE Code of Conduct.

AUC Theologica does not charge any fees for the processing and publication of the articles. Its policy is non-profit. All articles are published in the Open Access form. The content of the journal is freely available and the full texts of the articles are possible to be downloaded, copied, distributed, or shared without permission. Names and e-mail addresses inserted in these pages will be used solely for the purposes of this journal and will not be made accessible to any third party.

Primary responsibilities and rights of the editors

The editor-in-chief

– Guarantees and develops the overall concept of the journal
– Prepares the themes for the respective issues in cooperation with the editorial board
– Assesses the academic standards of submitted articles and has a right to accept or reject them
– Announces the deadlines for submission of the articles
– Controls the final manuscript before its publication
– Makes sure there is no conflict of interests in the whole publication process
– Reacts to the author’s appeal against the editor’s decision in cooperation with at least two independent members of the editorial board

The executive editor

– Is responsible for the editing system of the journal
– Administers the blind-peer review of the submitted articles, protects the privacy of the reviewers and of the authors
– Communicates with the authors and reviewers
– In cooperation with native speakers, assesses the linguistic standard of submitted articles and has a right to ask the authors for having their text proofread
– Ensures there is no plagiarised content in the whole manuscript
– Ensures the publication of corrections, clarifications, retractions, and apologies when needed

Responsibilities and rights of the reviewers

The reviewers are provided with any necessary guidance from the editors. They should:

– follow all instructions and set deadlines
– assess the articles objectively and avoid any discrimination or conflict of interests

The editors are responsible for protecting their identities as well as for the anonymisation of the authors thorough the review process.

Responsibilities and rights of the authors

The authors can submit their original papers, news, or reviews to the journal following the authors’ guidelines. All papers are assessed by the editors and, if they are of sufficient academic standard, their anonymised version is prepared for the review process. The authors are responsible to avoid any academic misconduct like submitting a plagiarised text or submitting a paper that was offered to another journal. They should be aware that the review process is confidential and respect this policy. After obtaining the suggestions for revisions of their texts from the reviewers, the authors are responsible to react to them and modify their texts accordingly.

Misconduct statement

The editors are responsible to prevent, identify, and solve any misconduct in the published or unpublished papers. In case of detecting any malpractice by the authors or reviewers, the concerned persons are contacted in order to respond to the accusation. If the response is not satisfactory, the issue is further investigated in cooperation with two independent members of the editorial board, who will form an internal ethics committee. If possible, the editors follow the COPE flowcharts to solve the problem.
