abstract

One of the distinguished types of landscapes are rural landscape. It is a kind of cultural landscape, resulting from human activities, including in the areas intensively used for agriculture, which is dominated by agro-ecosystem. The significance role of the rural landscape arises to the fact that rural areas in Poland occupy 93,1%, and agricultural areas are 51,55% of the country. The purpose of this paper is to present instruments of rural landscape protection. The conducting analysis leads to the conclusions that in Polish general legislation relating to nature protection, there is no direct regulation protecting the landscape against the negative impact from agricultural activities. On the other hand we can find the legal instruments in legislation relating to direct payments to farmers under support scheme and rural development in the new programming period 2014–2020. The greatest importance must be ascribed to the agri-environmental programs, afforestation of land, ecological farming, or support for LFA areas. In the next stage of the CAP special attention will be given to the new payment for environmental activities that will prevents the monocultures, which in consequence will be a very important element in shaping the landscape in rural areas.
