Tyranie většiny – špička ledovce ohrožujícího současnou demokracii

abstract

Tyranny of the Majority – a Pinpoint Endangering Today’s Democracy The author in her paper deals with a topical issue of the contemporary democratic society. Theoretical considerations in history and today regarding the failure to respect the rights of a political minority appear to be rather vigorous in practice. Debates carried out by democratically elected parliaments illustrate how the majority disregards minorities. The author elaborates on the topic of “tyranny of the majority” as it was treated by Alexis de Tocqueville. There is no doubt that the theory and practice of contemporary democracy has been rather weakened and endangered by this tyranny.
