abstract
The term authentic protocol (prothocollum authenticum) refers to official books of the so-called places of authentication (loca credibilia) in the Hungarian Kingdom, in which were the issued charters variously registered. Although these protocols contain plenty of valuable and in most cases in other form not survived historical sources, hitherto they were not utilized adequately in research. The probable reason for it is that only few have their modern source publication. Therefor the paper provides methodological suggestions and directions for editing and publishing sources of this kind.
