abstract
Recently it has become entirely commonplace to assert that computers are already well-established in Czech vvorkplaces and are gradually becoming established as normál perts of household equipment. This inevitably leads to the question of the effects of the computer in the home on the lifestyle of the family and its individual members, and of how to resolve potential problems of conflict between the „old“ lifestyle (up to now) and the „new“ (household computer or even multimedia terminal). The area affected by computers is very broad, and aflects personál lifestyle in all time categories – working time (in the form of vhat is know as telework“, i. e. the transfer of professional activity inlo the home), committed ume („home manager“ or „household director programmes), and free time with all its basic functions (cspccially as rcgards compuiei games and educational possibilities). The main generál tendencies of potential changes of lifestyle conceived as a certain complex may be classilied primarily as a differentiating trend (differencesin lifestyle influenced by the mode of use of the computer in the home) and as an integrational trend (mainly in the sence of removing some existing differences in living conditions – e.g. change in living conditions and lifestyle for the physically disabled person).
