abstract
Italian Light Verb Constructions. An Analys Is Based on the Italian-Czech Parallel Corpus The article presents a corpus-based analysis of Italian Light Verb Constructions considered as a specific kind of collocation, in line with the phraseological approach to Verb-Noun combinations (Ježek 2005). In particular, this paper focuses on constructions made up of Italian Light Verbs fare/ dare + Nouns. A distinction has been drawn between constructions with the article and those without it (fare una telefonata / fare festa), in respect of their different syntactic status. These two groups have been investigated separately through the concordances of the Italian-Czech parallel corpus developed at Charles University, Prague. The aim of the analysis is to show how these constructions are used in written Italian, in both original and translated texts, and whether or not there exists a difference with the corresponding synthetic verb forms (fare una telefonata / telefonare). Parallel Czech concordances have been considered for an interlinguistic comparison and in order to resolve certain semantic issues.
