AUC KINANTHROPOLOGICA
Submissions
Manuscripts should be submitted in electronic form to the following email address: auc-k@ftvs.cuni.cz. Doing so confirms that the manuscript contains original research that has not previously been published, and is not currently submitted for consideration to another journal, and that the author(s) have complied with the ethical standards of the journal (see below).
Publication of manuscripts is free of charge.
Review Process
Manuscripts submitted to the e-mail address auc-k@ftvs.cuni.cz undergo a two-stage evaluation:
1) The executive editors decide whether the manuscript falls within the scope of the journal and its formal requirements, including those for English language.
2) If found suitable for further consideration, the manuscript is sent to two independent external expert reviewers for evaluation (double blind review). Every effort will be made to ensure mutual anonymity of authors and reviewers.
Formal Requirenments
Format: manuscripts must be typewritten in English in a Microsoft Word Document (.docx, .doc), in Times New Roman CE 12, with 1.5 line spacing and not exceeding 20 pages, and with standard margins (2.5 cm at top, bottom, right, and left).
The author is fully responsible for the style (formal, and unbiased in any sense), language, and content of the manuscript. However, the Editorial Board has the right to comment on the form and language of the manuscript before it is accepted for publication. A good, standard command of English grammar is expected. Use of text effects (such as different fonts, bold, underlined, etc.) should be avoided, with the exception of italics.
Manuscripts may be rejected solely on language grounds if written in poor English.
Title page: must contain the title of the article, author(s) full name(s), institutional affiliation(s), and name and address of the corresponding author, including e-mail address.
Abstract: manuscripts must include an abstract in English (about 200 words) and up to five keywords that are not mentioned in the title of the article.
Structure of the article: for empirical studies, the following sections are recommended by the AUC Kinanthropologica Editorial Board to be used in the article: Introduction, Aim, Methods, Results, Discussion, Acknowledgements, References.
Tables, graphs and figures: The Journal is printed in black-and-white, so individual colours will not be recognisable, and will be printed in shades of grey.
Tables should be embedded in the text, in a simple form (black-and-white, not shaded, one type of line). The preferred table format is MS Word (.docx, .doc). The correct form of the tables should be clearly stated in the manuscript.
Graphs can be prepared in MS Word or MS Excel. Graphs in MS Excel should be sent with original data. Indicate where in the text graphs are to be placed.
Figures should appear in their place in the manuscript, and also as an independent file in the following formats: .eps, .tiff or .jpeg. It is not recommended to use figures copied from text in MS Word. Figures should be sent in the size in which you would like them printed. Letters, numbers and symbols should have a font size of 7–12 points.
Notes: footnotes (not endnotes) should be used.
References: The journal uses the APA style of referencing, placed at the end of the text, in alphabetical order by authors’ surnames. (see: http://apareferencing.ukessays.com/generator/book.php).
Make sure that all references are correct and included only when they are cited in the text; and that all cited references are present in the reference list. Please use full journal names. DOI codes are not required for all publications, only for online pre-publications. If a cited reference was not written in English, add an English translation of its title in brackets after the original title.
Cite references using authors’ last names, year of publication, and page reference if necessary; for example, “(Orford, 2011, p. 161)”. If a cited reference has two authors, always use both author names. If it has three to five authors, list all the authors in the first citation and use only the first author followed by “et al.” in all subsequent ones. If it has six or more authors, always list only the first author followed by “et al.” If there is more than one citation in the parentheses, the citations should be listed in the same order as in the reference list.
Accepted Manuscripts
Accepted manuscripts will be copy edited for clarity, syntax, grammar, consistency, and conformity with the journal style. Authors may be contacted for clarification.
The corresponding author will be sent page proofs by e-mail in PDF format, for revision. Authors are responsible for the final published manuscript, including any changes made by the copy editor.
Proofs should be corrected by annotations to the PDF and returned to the editorial office by the indicated date. Modifications to the proofs should be limited to minor and typographical errors only.
Before publication the corresponding author will be asked to fill in and sign the authorisation document and the declararations document (see Download section).
Review Procedures
Editors will ensure that manuscripts are evaluated on the basis of their academic merit, in good time. Manuscripts will be treated confidentially, and with respect for intellectual property. Reviews should be accurate and objective, with clear and justifying comments to assist authors with revisions. Reviewers should respond to manuscripts in a timely and professional manner, and should withdraw from the review process if this is not possible. Reviewers should be mindful of possible conflicts of interest resulting from competitive, collaborative, or other relationships or connections with any of the authors, companies, or institutions connected to the manuscript, and should withdraw from the review process if appropriate.

Errata and Retractions
Acta Universitatis Carolinae Kinanthropologica will publish corrections (errata) when errors could affect the interpretation of data or information, whatever the cause of the error (i.e. arising from authorial or editorial errors). Acta Universitatis Carolinae Kinanthropologica will publish ‘retractions’ if work is proven to be fraudulent, or ‘expressions of concern’ if editors have well-founded suspicions of misconduct. The title of the erratum, retraction, or expression of concern will include the words ‘Erratum’, ‘Retraction’, or ‘Expression of Concern’. This will enable indexing and abstracting services to identify and link errata, retractions, and expressions of concern to the original publications.
