Studentská legie pražské univerzity v roce 1800 a její památky

This article offers a new evaluation of items related to the existence of Prague university’s student legion, which was active in 1800–1801 and was expected to participate in protecting Bohemia against the armies of revolutionary France. In the end, this unit has never taken part in military engagements, but several items attesting to its existence survive. Recently, there was undertaken a new analysis of drawings of the Prague painter František Horčička in which the painter prepared both images of the individual figures and the overall composition of a painted picture from 1826. The picture is currently held in the collections of the Heeresgeschichtliche Museum in Vienna. One item long associated with the Prague legion, namely a standard kept since 1922 in the collections of the National Museum of Prague, has recently turned out to have no such connection because research has shown that it is older and it served a different purpose.
