This publication aims to present the attractive and contemporary field of retail geography of consumption to students of geography and related fields as well as to other readers. It addresses several relevant themes on which researchers and analysts have been focusing lately: localization, planning, shopping behaviour, customers' preferences, the phenomenon of retail environment and leisure time, micro-space aspects of the shopping environment, consumer culture and society, alternative consumerism and others. Each chapter is accompanied by examples from contemporary practice and exemplification of the described theme on particular research carried out in the Czech environment. A relevant bibliography is presented at the end of each chapter, which should facilitate the deepening of knowledge on the theme.
