summary
Thirty scholars from Argentina, France, Columbia, Cuba, Hungary, Mexico, Spain and the Czech Republic present prominent historians who focused on the history of the Caribbean, their methods of work and main areas of study (José Antonio Piqueras’s texts on H. E. Friedlaender and Paul Estrade’s work on the young Julio Le Riverend’s stay in Paris), and analyze historical production of national historiographies on the history of the region (Ádám Anderle’s paper on Cuban studies in Hungary). Experts on the literatures of the countries in the Caribbean focus on the description of historical events in the works of authors such as Alejo Carpentier and on the reflection on the region’s life in the texts of local journalists, writers and poets.
