summary

The Limits to Growth (1972) is a groundbreaking study based on a computer model of global development. The authors analyse the impacts of exponential population growth, industrialisation, resource consumption, and pollution on the planetary system. Its warning against exceeding the limits to growth and its call for sustainable development worldwide have inspired environmental protection. This is the first official Czech edition, based on Bedřich Moldan’s translation from 1972. Although the translation was only distributed through unofficial channels in the 1970s, it had a significant impact on Czechoslovak society at the time.
