Raný vývoj verbální a neverbální komunikace dítěte s Downovým syndromem

Language and communication acquisition by children with Down syndrome has been neglected in Czech linguistic research. Drawing on recent findings about language acquisition by children with both typical and non-typical development, the author describes the characteristics of the development of language and communicative competencies in children with Down syndrome. The publication features a unique study of early communication behaviour of a boy growing up in a Czech-German environment, which the author uses as a basis for a discussion of established methods for the development of communication and comprehension. The monograph has important ethical implications.
