This publication introduces the general Czech reader to the traditional family, clan and tribe structures which rule the social elites of the Near East. Eduard Gombár describes elementary elements of the traditional Muslim society and demonstrates the individual family, clan and tribe structures, its historical development and dominant social influences. The book is organised in six geographically determined chapters: Saudi Arabia, the Gulf States, Yemen, Jordan and the arabic tribes of Iraq. The publication is accompanied by genealogic tables, maps, name index and literature.
