summary
This collection of essays written by eleven scholars from Spain, Venezuela and the Czech Republic offers a view of the issue that has been followed with an increasing interest not only in the Hispanic world, but also outside it: the phenomenon of power and social conflict in mutual relations. The scholars examine the forms of this relation in different historical periods, starting during the period of colonialism, then during the formation of independent nations during the past decade, in which it has become part of social and research discourse and found its reflections in art. In art, it even functions as the main axis of an important segment of visual art, as is demonstrated in the book’s last section. This publication is a valuable contribution to the ever expanding international discussion.
