abstract
Cirrhotic cardiomyopathy, a cardiac dysfunction presented in patients with liver cirrhosis, is characterized by altered diastolic relaxation, impaired contractility, and electrophysiological abnormalities. The underlying mechanisms involved in pathogenesis are complex and involve altered cardiomyocytes membrane physiology, impaired β-receptor signaling and increased activity of vasodilatory pathways. Manifestation of cirrhotic cardiomyopathy includes systolic and diastolic dysfunction, electrophysiological abnormalities and autonomic dysfunction. Here, we review the pathophysiological basis and clinical manifestations of cirrhotic cardiomyopathy.
