AUC Interpretationes. Journal of Contemporary Phenomenology is a new series and a continuation of AUC Interpretationes. Studia Philosophica Europeana, that has covered since 2009 a broader view on 20th-century philosophy, while it is now focusing more particularly on French and German phenomenology.

abstract
My article focuses on an essential trait of all living beings: their embeddedness in the world. Based on Heidegger’s lecture courses, Grundbegriffe der Metaphysik – Welt, Endlichkeit, Einsamkeit, in which Heidegger advances his own philosophy of biology, and Metaphysische Anfangsgründe der Logik im Ausgang von Leibniz I develop a notion of Drang (drive) as a metaphysical principle of life.
