summary
The book is a study material dealing with prosthetic oral rehabilitation using conventional full dentures, which remains to be a justified method despite the current progress of modern dental implantology in dentistry. Divided into 15 chapters and supplemented by 80 illustrations, the study material provides a comprehensive overview of full mouth dental replacement, discussing both theory as well as dental office and laboratory practices. The introduction covers, among other issues, the psychosocial aspect of complete tooth loss. The theoretical part, supplemented with relevant notes on anatomy, deals with the physical principles of the retention of restorations. The subsequent chapters provide an overview of the phases of treatment that take place in dental office and laboratory. The examination procedure, practical instructions for jaw impressions, intermaxillary fixation, and recommendations for tooth selection and their aesthetic arrangement are described. The following sections describe dental prosthesis try-in, handover of the prosthesis to the patient, and giving the patient instructions on the use. The section dealing with laboratory practice covers static rules for the arrangement of dental arches and the installation of models in dental articulators. The concluding chapters discuss immediate and hybrid restorations, repairs, and relines in full dentures. The book is intended for students of dentistry and dental technician programs at faculties of medicine and post-secondary medical schools.
