summary
The transformation of the Czech economy after 1989 represented the most radical change in the national economy since the establishment of Czechoslovakia in 1918. The lay public, and sometimes even experts, often associate it with part of the privatization process, although it included the liberalization of prices and foreign trade, macroeconomic stabilization and changes (transformations) in property rights. On the other hand, the privatization process is often unjustly reduced to the segment of the privatization process implemented by the National Property Fund of the Czech Republic and by the Ministry of Finance of the Czech Republic; the latter being in charge of the privatization of stock – through vouchers. The role of the Land Fund of the Czech Republic in the privatization process is usually neglected although the number of legal transactions in the agricultural and forest property privatization surpassed those performed by the National Property Fund of the Czech Republic by a factor of more than fifty-five. This monograph strives to present basic theoretical points of departure and test the practical application of economic theories by renowned economic fundamentalists, a structured analysis of the legal framework, the roles of institutions, the development of the privatization process, and a macroeconomic and statistical analysis of the privatization process as a whole.
The book is intended for experts and anyone interested in the study of economics, national economy, the theory of property rights and the transformation of the national economy. Publications on restitutions and changes in property rights in the Czech Republic in general can be viewed as continuations of this book.
