Horizonty umění

This selection of texts by the leading Czech art historian Petr Wittlich presents a rich panorama of fine arts linked with the processes of transformation of modern painting and statue. The texts, which were written over the past fifty years as contributions and reviews as well as essays written in connection with important exhibitions, follow the development of modern art from many different angles. It focuses primarily on the situation at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, the Art-Nouveau period and the rise of classical modernism. The scholar pays special attention to Czech art in its lively contacts with European art and in its specifics, related to the formation of a world-oriented national culture.
