summary
This books presents a close look at the complex intercultural issues from which the learned stereotypes are formed as the accumulation of mostly negative experiences with "the other”. The stereotype bearers succumb to the essentialist idea about the nature of the other in order to facilitate their own orientation in the social reality. This text points out the fact that negative stereotypes in the relationships with the Roma in the Czech Republic have surreptitiously become a tool for political manipulation and serve as a breeding ground for the ideology of the modern "anti-gypsyism,” which is a part of the racism on the rise.
