Interrogating the form and purpose of teaching literature in Czech secondary schools is an unstable field. The book provides an answer to one of the essential issues being questioned: the ability to interpret literary texts and the possibility of teaching and testing this skill. Using literary theory as its baseline, the book presents various teaching methods that are interspersed with tested teaching materials, often drawing on the author’s own interactive concepts (interpretation maps, decision trees, gamebooks, etc.).
