summary
This monograph on the development psychology of preschool age children crowns the decade of cooperation between the Department of Psychology, Faculty of Arts, Charles University in Prague and a group of paediatricians-psychologists from Le Mirail University in Toulouse, France. The importance of personal relations of the child is described in two different age groups, 0-3 and 3-6 years. The authors survey the influences on the child of the family, children of the same age and institutions, and analyse the development of speech. The studies also examine children problem solving and learning to cope with new demands (unusual is the inclusion of the development of the "conception of death" in preschool age). Each text is presented in Czech and in French. The publication puts together two viewpoints, rooted in the different history and global social-cultural frame of the development of a child in the Czech Republic and France.
