summary
This monograph written by sociologist Nico Stehr and climatologist Hans von Storch deals with questions of natural climate in the political, cultural, economic and historical context. It is based on the belief that climate is not merely a natural phenomenon, something that belongs exclusively in the realm of natural science: it is also a cultural and social construct. Consequently, the book addresses not only climate "unaffected by man" and its anthropogenic transformations, but also the development of how we understand climate and how this understanding influences the society and politics. The book closes with the Zeppelin Manifesto which demonstrates what the scholars deem necessary to create a balanced and effective policy on climate.
