summary
Transformation of Conditionality in the European Union analyzes the changes in the enforcement of rules associated with the membership in the European Union, which occurred after its expansion in 2004 and 2007 as well as during the Eurozone crisis in 2010–2012. Having mapped out the conceptual and practical arrears of the European Union’s accession criteria during the last expansions, the publication tries to answer the question of to what extent the accession criteria was, after the expansion of the EU, replaced by standard tools for the enforcement of the union rules, such as proceedings before the Court of Justice of the European Union, and to what extent the expansion forced the creation of new forms of the internal Union conditionality. Along with the analysis of the transformation of the conditionality, linked to the EU expansion, the book takes interest in the transformation of the conditionality connected to the enforcement of the Eurozone rules, particularly in relation to the crisis of its functioning in the last years.
