This book presents essays by the prominent Austrian religious historian, Karl W. Schwarz, focusing on Protestantism in the Czech Lands. Its four thematic areas present probes into the Josephine tolerance, the status of religions between the National Revival and the 19th-century nationalism, their role in the 20th century and biographical sketches of prominent representatives of Czech Protestantism.
