The personality of Josef Šárka (1918–2008) is connected with significant milestones in the fight against totalitarian regimes in Czechoslovakia: November 17, 1939 and 1989. This volume brings two of Šárka's memorial texts in which the author recalls the events of 1939, imprisonment in the Sachsenhausen concentration camp, life in the Protectorate and life in Czechoslovakia during the period of the Communist dictatorship and in 1989.
