The book discusses problems of unemployment in the inter-war Czechoslovakia in an international context. It focuses mainly on the legislation and a description of the structural economic conditions. Pertinent parts of the book are devoted to the history of everyday life of the unemployed, their survival strategies and calculations of the likely development of the living standard of their households. The book also contains a theoretical introduction into the genesis of the unemployment phenomenon in modern economies and into the forms of grasping unemployment as a discourse or, more generally, its social reflection
