The glossary of basic terms in astronomy is a handbook intended for anyone interested in astronomy who needs assistance when working with German texts or communicating with German-speaking colleagues, and especially for foreign language editors or translators. It contains terminology roughly based on the scope of secondary school education. The entries are supplemented with information on word division, stress patterns, morphology, and style; the equivalents are illustrated by example phrases and authentic sentences, including their translations into Czech. Apart from technical abbreviations, the glossary also provides references to terminological synonyms.
