Another contribution to the Karolinum Press monographs devoted to the individual fields of the transplant medicine (Liver Transplantation is another publication). This book, in comprehensive form, provides information on one of the most demanding medical surgeries, from its history, through the patients' states clinical aspects, surgical procedure and post-surgical care, to the special cases and current research and practice. The publication was compiled by Prof. Jan Pirk and his team from the Cardiocentre of the Institute of Clinical and Experimental Medicine in Prague, one of the two centres in the Czech Republic, which successfully perform heart transplantations.
