The term "avant garde" is generally understood as a broadly left-wing artistic movement associated with the criticism of art institutions and the institution of "art" itself, and a preference of artistic and editorial activities of groups and the cultivation of international contacts...
In her text, Anita Pelánová has taken a different angle: it is not an "autopsy" report on avante garde, but rather a look at the world of the twentieth century as seen through the prism of artistic vision of the painters of that era. Methodologically, the work is exceptionally interesting primarily in the way it succinctly captures the discoveries of civilization which form the basis for shifts in how the world is seen and from that position moves on to shifts in artistic paradigms, artistic methods, iconography and at the same time relationships...
