Krajina mezi pamětí a zapomínáním

Karolína Pauknerová’s book uncovers the variability of ways in which memory becomes part of landscape, sediments in it, reproduces and disappears. Using several examples, the environs of the Příbram road, remembering the vanished borderlands, megalithic structures in South Bohemia, she presents landscape as a process, which is co-created by memory as well as by forgetting. Being in the landscape includes thinking about memory, immersion in the past times, experiencing their traces as well as their absence. Without this immersion, we cannot understand landscape and the memory hidden in it.
