Mezi domovem a kolonií

Jana Pátková, Slovak studies specialist, presents mutual depictions of Czechs and Slovaks in their respective national representations as presented in Slovak and Czech literature over the course of one century. The analysed period covers the beginnings of Czech-Slovak interactions between the representatives of the emerging national emancipation movement in the 1830s up until the end of the 1930s, when cultural ties were severed by the war. The author looks at the traditional topic of Czech-Slovak mutual relations through a different prism, carrying out a postcolonial analysis of marginalised texts such as travelogues or forgotten novels.
