summary

The eight essays that the book Po cestách kritického myšlení (Paths of critical thinking) consist of all focus on Otakar A. Funda’s work. They present an analysis of the development of Funda’s thinking, placing it into the context of current general cultural and philosophical issues. The book opens with Funda’s own account of his path from Protestant theology, via critical religionism to critical rationalism. This restrospect is followed by contributions focusing on Funda’s religionist activities (N. Pelcová), the place of his qualitative positivism within the context of T. G. Masaryk’s and František Krejčí’s positivism (H. Pavlincová), the comparison of Funda’s critical rationalism to its model – Hans Albert’s work (J. Paitlová), the wider context of the crisis of erudition in education (P. Čornej), the global ecological crisis (J. Šmajs), and last but not least, the philosophical solution to the questions of the reality of the external world and of the truth as such (J. Špůr). The epilogue was written by M. Hauser.
