The Medical Biology and Genetics textbook series focuses primarily on genetic issues relevant to the study of medicine. It summarises the fundamental knowledge of the extensive and rapidly evolving field of medical biology and genetics. The series is divided into three volumes.
The first volume summarises the fundamental principles of Mendelian genetics and knowledge regarding gene linkage and its application in the diagnosis of hereditary diseases and in genome mapping. It introduces students to the principles of genealogical studies and summarises current knowledge on intercellular communication. Furthermore, it describes the process, significance, and possible disorders of eukaryotic cell division, as well as the latest findings on human chromosomal makeup, new techniques for karyotype analysis, and the emergence of a wide range of defects associated with chromosomal aberrations.
