summary
Several years after the book Geography Space(s) was published, the very same group of authors with only a few changes came together once more and their cooperation resulted in a book that aims to shift the interest in the space-time experience from the imaginary geographical “margin” to its “core.” However, the book does not focus on one, seemingly majority experience, but on experiences that are heterogeneous, unique for every person. Presenting specific experience, it demonstrates how it can enrich knowledge of society as a whole. The experience of life without children and partner for example illustrates the current problem of setting limits between personal and professional space and time. The experience of redundancy, felt by non-qualified workers, opens up the question of the free choice of space-time behavior. The experience of movement without eyesight outlines the role of unconscious behavior in our daily lives. This book aims to consider every experience as equally important while demonstrating the fact that the dualism of the “core” and the “margin” does not contribute to the development of geographical thinking and that it is high time that we abandoned it.
