summary
This book focuses on the most researched period in the history of the United States, on which dozens of books are published every year. In addition to covering the events of the war, they also treat the broader context of the clash between the two parts of the Union as well. Prior to 1860, the South and the North developed so differently that in less than a hundred years after the establishment of the country, the Confederation seceded, which was followed by a military conflict. It was not until the defeat of the secessionists that the federation was unified again, determining the direction of the country for the following decades and attracting the attention of the world for social, political and economic potential it offered to its inhabitants and immigrants alike. This perspective of the American Civil War was selected by the author of the War of the North against the South. Rather than the course of battles, the scholar focuses on the historical and political context of the clashes and the protagonists. This new, expanded edition contains many illustrations from the period.
