Úvod do studia politiky

The textbook is intended especially for university students of bachelor’s and master’s programmes in social sciences and humanities. It is a collective work, unique in its conception and scope in the Czech environment. It is divided into four parts. In the first part, politics is interpreted through the lens of various disciplines – from political science through philosophy, psychology, anthropology, law, geography, and economics to history. The second part contains introductions to selected sub-disciplines of political science, such as comparative politics, international relations theory, and administrative science. The third part provides introductions to quantitative and qualitative methods in political science, including qualitative comparative analysis. The fourth part covers selected major topics in politics, such as party and electoral systems, nations and nationalism, and democracy and non-democratic regimes. All the parts of the textbook are interrelated and form a coherent text, although the views, approaches, and judgements of the authors of the individual chapters may differ to some extent.
