summary
The Faculty of Social Sciences, Charles University, established the Josef Vavroušek “Human Values and Issues in the Development of Civilization” Award in 1995. Up through 2021, 407 student works were entered in the competition. This publication presents the documentation of the works and their evaluation as well as a reflection on the disciplines to which they belong. It reflects the situation in the theoretical economy, whose paradigm has been criticized as a result of the negative effect that economic development has had on nature and social relations. In addition, it also analyzes Josef Vavroušek’s contributions to the development of a new discipline – public policy – and continues to emphasize his criticism of the unsustainability of the current course of values of Euro-American civilization. It offers a value transformation in the understanding of who man is, his fate, role and happiness on Earth.
